hi there,
my name is betty, I live in new zealand with my husband, two grown daughters, 4 grandchildren, one son in law. the other has been kicked out, my daughter is having such a bad time with him and we are all stressed to the eyeballs. we had to sell up our home of 28yrs and buy a bigger place to fit the 5 of us, we are thinking when we get to the end of the tunnel and have some money left we might make the trip back home to live. we haven't a clue about the price of houses as we have been away from scotland for over 30yrs so if any of you have any info you can give us about where the best place to stay , how much does say a 4 bedroom house set you back we might head for the edinburgh side but we could stay in glasgow or the surrounding area . if you feel like answering this please do ta- a- ton

Hi Betty, sorry to hear about your trouble....sometimes a baseball bat and a dark alley come in useful. House prices in Britain as a whole are high at the moment....and have been for quite a while. I live in Fort William so not sure about house prices in Glasgow and Edinburgh......I can tell you though that an ex council house just along the road from me (3 bedrooms) has just sold for £105,000. Great news for me as I bought mine about 6 yrs ago for £24,000, and watched it's value rise steadily ever since.....but it's value now is just ridiculous for what it is. I would put a true value of about £40,000 - £50,000 on it. But people will pay ridiculous prices because there is a severe shortage of housing here at the moment. I will just go into that site and have a look, never been to fort william but you never know what's round the corner, my sister lives in haddington just outside of edinburgh, she has 5 boys 2 girls and the whole family are always trekking around scotland the have mentioned being in fort wiliam a few times, thanks again take care good folks are scarce. betty

hiya betty
not too sure about house prices but did see a 3 bed ex council go for £120,000. so u wld need more than that for a 4 bed. I am near glasgow.
