I used to work for a big company and they organised a family day out at Blair Drummond Safari Park. It was a chance for all the employees from all over Scotland to meet each other and their respective families. They had booked the BBQ area, where we would all get together and meet each other over a few beers and sausages. They also told us to bring a change of clothes and the biggest water pistols we could find!!!!!!!
Well the day went great....we did the tour of the park and the BBQ and all that..... then the water pistol fight began. I mean, can you imagine it.......there were hundreds of us. It was all pretty tame...... at first. But there were a lot of really competitive people there. Soon water pistols were not enough....not even the big 'supersoakers'. People started grabbing any type of container that would hold water........but it was all good fun. Then someone decided to empty one of the rubbish bins........they then dismantled the waste pipe from one of the toilet sinks so that they could sit the bin under it to fill it up. This was when all hell broke loose.....'cos everyone went looking for rubbish bins then.....and more and more toilet sinks started getting dimantled. The biggest problem was that because we were from all over the country no-one was really sure who actually worked for the company and was therefore involved in the water fight. So it ended up as a free for all.........in other words everyone was fair game. Anyone that came within striking distance of you got a full bin of water tipped over their head. Needless to say there were a lot of complaints and eventually the park rangers rounded us all up and we were asked to leave.
Ah well, by that time the day was nearly over so it didn't really matter. But what a laugh we had.
Did we get into trouble when we went back to work?
No, as it was one of the big bosses that emptied the first bin to use in the fight.
That was one of the best work day outs I ever had.
