Yeah ok, I have worked it out. Not as quick as 'Lish though. It took me till my second attempt. I made the mistake the first time of counting up all the dots and subtracting the middle ones.

Forget about the dice that dont have a dot in the middle. Then count the number of dots you are left with and subtract the middle dots.

Or just add up the number of dots that are around a middle dot.

Simple really
