Sorry ah hivnae goat back fur a while but ah'v bin daein a lot o runnin aroon.
Maddie his gone through her furst round o chemo (seven weeks) and is tae start her second round in two weeks but last night she goat a wee infection an as hur immune system is so low she hid tae get rushed intae hospital an she wull be therr fur aboot 4 days tae they get it cleared up. She is tentatively booked fur hur first surgery on Nov. 23rd. They really are no sure whit procedure they wull go wi but they are talking aboot four different options depending where they core o ther cancer is placed. They hivnae ruled oot amputation BUT
that wull be the last resort.
As ah said before it wull be a long recovery period but the wee darlin keeps us aw amazed wi hur courage an sense o humour.

The news aboot wee Maddie isnae too good. The cancer his caused a lot o damage tae the knee and the options urnae great. They urr talking aboot rotation plasty where they remove the leg above the knee and rotate the lower limb 180 degrees and graft it back oan wi the heel replacing the knee. She wid be fitted wi a prothesis which wid cover the foot an gie her full motion o the lower limb. It is major surgery an ma heart is breakin fur the wee sowl. Ma daughter an son-in-law urr talking tae different surgeons tae find oot aw the options an make their decision efter consultations. The surgery is still planned for Nov. 23 whatever the decision may be.

Well ma daughter spoke tae the surgeon an another option is "Repiphysis", where they replace the femur from the hip tae the knee with a titanium rod coated wi a plastic material an another rod slides intae it. They urr controlled wi an magnetic field an as Maddie grows the rods kin be lengthened wi magnets (in hospital) tae eliminate the need furr too many surgeries.
Wi hurr being so small, they would hiv tae replace the rods when she is 10 and again when she is 18. They urr daein merr tests today an tomorrow tae see if this is feasible. It lets her keep the leg anyway. This operation hisnae been done oan anybody as wee as Maddie before and hasn't been done often in Canada.
We urr awe hopin an prayin furr her an thank all of you furr daein the same.

This soonds lik ah bit ah guid news.... if it saves Maddie's leg........we wull aw keep prayin fur hur.

Ah actually saw ah show oan Australian TV recently where they wur daen sumthing similar tae whit yur describin, an it wiz ah success, mind the lassie wiz in hur early teens.. bit Maddie bein the wee angel she is. ahm shair it wull wurk oot perfectly fur hur! she certainly is a brave an couragous wee soul!
